
BY-LAWS
ARTICLE I - NAME
This organization shall be known
as the Hondo Garden Club.
ARTICLE II - OBJECT
The object of this Club shall be
to beautify our homes and serve our community.
ARTICLE III -MEMBERSHIP
Section 1.
Active members of this club shall be residents of the City of Hondo and
the surrounding communities.
Section 2.
Active membership shall be by recommendation after the

Active members of the Club shall:
1. Participate in all activities of
the Club.
2. Serve as clerks at the Thrift
Shop.
Section 4.
Associate members: Persons interested in the Club’s activities, but unable to
take part in them, may become Associate members.
1. Associate members will have the
privilege of attending the last meeting of the year, and by invitation, other
special events.
2. May take part in the flower
show.
ARTICLE IV - DUES
Section 1.
The annual dues for each Active member shall be five dollars ($5.00)
payable before June 1 of the calendar year.
Section 2. The annual dues for each
Associate member shall be ten dollars (10.00).
ARTICLE V
- OFFICERS
The officers of the Club shall be
President, First Vice-President, Second Vice- President, Recording Secretary,
Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, Historian, and two (2) Directors-at-Large.
ARTICLE VI - ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Section 1.
At the November meeting, a nominating committee of three
(3) members shall be elected by the membership.
Section 2.
Election of officers shall be held annually in January.
New Officers shall take office in May.
Section 3.
In the event that a vacancy should occur in any office, the
vacancy shall be filled by the action of the same nominating committee constituted in Section 1 above. Election shall be held at the
same meeting at which the nomination is made.
ARTICLE VII - DUTIES OF OFFICERS
Section 1. The President shall preside at all meetings, appoint all committees and act as the Club’s official representative.
Section 2.
The First Vice-President shall be Program Chairman and shall assume all
the duties of the President in her absence. She shall be responsible for (1) planning all programs;
Section 3.
The Second Vice-President shall be General Chairman of the
Thrift Shop. She shall be responsible for
maintenance of
building and grounds.
Section 4.
The Recording Secretary shall issue notices, keep the roll of members,
furnish information to any member of the Executive Board and prepare and read
all of the minutes.
Section 5.
The Corresponding Secretary shall conduct all correspondence as directed
by the President.
Section 6.
The Treasurer shall collect all money and disburse same. She shall pay
State and District dues immediately after installation. She shall give
a financial statement at each meeting with written copies going to the Recording
Secretary and the President.
Section 7. The Historian shall keep a record of all Club activities in a scrapbook, which will be displayed on occasion. She shall also send outstanding news items to the District Scrapbook Chairman.
Section 8.
The Parliamentarian shall be appointed by the President. She shall acquaint herself with the rules of Parliamentary procedure
according to ROBERTS’ RULES OF ORDER, NEWLY REVISED, 1970 Edition and be ready
to advise the Club.
Section 9.
The Directors-at-Large shall assume duties and/or responsibilities as
directed by the President in a manner to be in the Club’s best interest.
ARTICLE VIII - COMMITTEES
Section 1.
At the May meeting the new President shall announce the Chairmen of the
following standing committees:
Arbor Day
Books
Civic Development
Club Rating
(Awards)
Community Service
Conservation
Courtesy and
Hospitality
Horticulture
Membership/Friendship
Program
Publicity
Scholarship
Scrapbook
Telephone
Therapy
Ways & Means (Thrift Shop)
Yard of the Month
Yearbook
Youth Projects
Section 2. The President shall appoint such special Committees, as she deems necessary.
ARTICLE IX – MEETINGS
Section 1.
This club shall hold regular meetings at 1:00 p.m. on the second Friday
of each month.
Section 2.
The meetings shall be discontinued during June, July and August.

ARTICLE XI - PARLIAMENTARY AUTHORITY
ROBERTS’ RULES OF ORDER, NEWLY
REVISED, 1970 Edition shall be used in cases not covered by these By-Laws.
ARTICLE XII - AMENDMENT OF BY-LAWS
The By-laws may be amended by
a
two-thirds vote of the members present at any regular meeting of the Club,
provided the amendment has been presented at the previous meeting.
